Lisa Wintersteiger
Chief Executive

Lisa has over 20 years’ experience in social welfare law working in the advice and community sector. She has a background in legal aid casework, youth and community development and regeneration. She has also been a consultant and researcher in advice needs, international human rights and more recently has been leading public legal education research and programming.

She specialises in PLE in the context of access to justice both in the UK and abroad; her expertise is in bringing together theory and practice, policy development and designing community education programmes to meet the needs of vulnerable people.

She is researching a PhD in law and critical theory and co-convenes clinical teaching at Birkbeck College School of Law, University of London.

Theresa Harris
Head of Information and Digital Innovation


Theresa has a background in designing, writing and evaluating a range of public legal education  and information projects and materials. Her experience of public legal education projects includes an EU funded Progress Project on tackling discrimination and management of the development and delivery of multiple strands of public legal education work delivered through large scale advice sector partnerships. Her recent written work includes  ‘How to do equality PLE’ and ‘Equalities PLE toolkit’.

Theresa is a highly skilled writer and has overseen the production of numerous self-help guides in her work for Help the Aged and for Advicenow. Her skills include commissioning, editing and researching law-related information, as well as monitoring and evaluating user feedback and the effectiveness of dissemination strategies.

Recently Theresa has developed an overview of quality issues around information for self-represented litigants through managing the Advicenow scoping review into the effectiveness of court forms and supporting guidance for self-represented litigants.

Mary Marvel
Head of Communications and Deputy CEO


Mary specialises in translating the law into accessible and engaging materials, drawing on her experience delivering public legal education and advice on the ground in student, community and mental health projects.

Mary can provide excellent real-world insight into common legal issues in areas ranging from the private rental market and benefit disputes, to divorce, and individuals representing themselves in court.

Beth Kirkland
Head of legal information and pro bono

Beth is a non-practising solicitor with over ten years’ experience of working in family law, primarily advising and representing legally aided clients. She has worked as a pro bono solicitor at Avon and Bristol Law Centre and at HMP Eastwood Park assisting vulnerable women prisoners. She also has some experience in Court of Protection work.

She is now responsible for researching, writing and updating the legal information for the Advicenow website. To support this she works to foster and support pro bono and legal sector relationships.

Dragica (Dada) Felja
Head of Education and Training – currently on maternity leave

Dada started her career working with refugees and asylum seekers at the Refugee Council. Over the last fourteen years, she worked with the Roma refugee and migrant communities in the UK at the London-based charity Roma Support Group. Her work included advice and advocacy for Roma families, mentoring and education support for vulnerable young Roma and a media project with a group of young Roma, which resulted in a short documentary “Be Roma or Die Trying”. She also supported statutory and non-statutory organisations working with the Roma communities across the UK through training, consultancy and capacity building support.

Dada contributed to various researches, articles and publications related to Roma issues in the UK. She conducted a research study on substance misuse in the Roma community and a research study on rough sleeping Roma in the city of Westminster. Dada has MA in Postcolonial Cultures.

Francesca Feruglio
Head of Education and Training – interim

Francesca is a researcher and trainer with a background on international human rights and social justice. For the last eight years Francesca has been working with several organisations in Europe and India conducting legal and social research, monitoring and trainings on socio-economic rights, particularly around housing, health and labor rights. As a co-founder of Nazdeek in India, she developed and coordinated programs to build the capacity of women from marginalized groups to monitor, document and address gaps in the delivery of basic services, combining legal trainings with community-led data collection and litigation.

Currently Francesca is also working as a coordinator for the International Network on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

Mihaela Rosca
Office manager / Personal Assistant to Chief Executive

Mihaela biog phone cropMihaela moved to the UK in 2008 and initially spent her time volunteering at an environmental non-profit organisation and a community charity. Her experiences working with the community lead her to become a freelance community interpreter, working with various agencies throughout London for the past six years. Alongside her linguistic skills she has also been continuously developing strong administrative skills through her work as a freelancer and as office manager for nonprofit and for-profit organisations. She is pleased to be supporting the Law for Life and Advicenow team, while further developing her skills and knowledge.

Stuart Meyers
Housing and homelessness prevention project worker

Stuart has extensive experience supporting migrants and refugees with a range of issues concerning their immigration status, housing and homelessness, benefits, and providing other advice and advocacy. He has working knowledge of how local authorities across London implement the Homelessness Reduction Act and the obstacles private renters and council tenants face when in accommodation. He has worked in supported housing, refugee charities, and immigration law practices.
